Are there passport requirements when travelling outside of South Africa?

  • A passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the return date into South Africa, and all South African passport holders are required to have a minimum of three blank pages in their passport excluding the front and back cover in order to enable entry visas to be issued. If there is insufficient space in the passport, entry will be denied and the person is likely to be detained pending return to their country of origin.

Are there visa requirements when travelling outside of South Africa?

  • Visa requirements vary from country to country, and travellers are required to fulfil the entry requirements for each country for their entire itinerary, including all applicable stop over or transit destinations.
  • Travellers should confirm these requirements with the relevant High Commissions, Embassies and/or consulates at the time of booking at least two months prior to departure to ensure that they are aware of any changes to a country’s entry requirements.
  • The onus is on the traveller to check the entry requirements for all destinations to be visited or travelled through.
  • mtbeds.co.za can assist in providing this information for the relevant embassies. Please note that the mtbeds.co.za team are not visa consultants and will not be held liable should you fail to fulfil any passport, visa or other immigration requirements.
